Balance and coordination, as a tool to activate executive functions
Baiba Blomniece Jurāne

This workshop introduces Barboleta balance boards as a practical tool for supporting children’s executive functions through movement and coordinated cognitive activity. Participants will explore the theoretical foundation of how purposeful movement supports essential skills like attention and self-regulation, followed by hands-on practice. The session highlights how balance and coordination serve as a meaningful bridge between the body, the brain, and learning.

Key Focus Areas:

  1. Theoretical Foundations: Understanding how balance and movement support working memory, self-control, processing speed, and planning.
  2. Practical Application: Hands-on experience with Barboleta balance platforms and structured learning tasks adapted to various developmental and educational goals.
  3. Academic Impact: Applying movement methods to subjects like math and reading, as well as emotional regulation.
